Child's Destiny to Drive.

 Never liked Destiny's Child.

Their music never did anything for me and that video always reminds me of chicken thighs.

But since Beyoncé has become a Country Star my view of her has changed.

Loved Texas Hold-'Em.

Including rhyming Texas with Lexus.

She appears in one of two BBC car stories I've read this week.

Beyoncé had to stop her show in Houston on Saturday night when the Cadillac she was flying over the audience in started to tilt.
Fortunately, they hadn't rigged up a real Cadillac.  She hung on to the flagpole and was safely lowered to the ground - presumably not onto the audience.

But there is some debate as to the speed of the lowering.

The BBC story clearly states that,

"Gasps could be heard from the audience when fans realised what was happening, but then applause as the star was slowly lowered to the ground, smiling and waving to the crowd."

Beyoncé's company, Parkwood Entertainment, said "She was quickly lowered and no one was injured."

Meanwhile, in Scotland, reported in the second BBC story,  a Woman was charged today with allowing a young child to drive a car through a village. The child, presumably her daughter, was barefoot and it was during bad weather.

The stupid woman also videoed the incident - which may well be why she was caught.

But worse than that, as the BBC made a point of reporting, during the drive, she was listening to The Sugababes.

Has the shooter been charged?

Not yet - and we don't know if his car has been either.

I'd seen this story on drive.com.au and was planning a light-hearted little post about it - "Two Tesla drivers have been involved in a skirmish – with one driver shot after being sprayed with mace – during a dispute at a charging station near Denver, Colorado."

Maybe I'd have done something about mild-mannered electric car drivers or perhaps something about the ridiculous number of shootings that happen every day in America.

Unfortunately, when I researched this a little further, it became clear that no only was his car charged (he drove away) but the other man died of his injuries.  ABC have the latest here.  Not really "a skirmish" then.

Race Loser

Although geographically in the South, South Carolina was right in the middle of the US Civil War.  And the start and the end.

So maybe this stupid woman thought she had a 50/50 chance of escaping punishment there for a motoring offence with her tactic when the police officer who stopped her was white.
Her tactic was, with her being "a clean, thoroughbred white girl", to say, "You're a cop; you should know what that means."

A clean, thoroughbred white girl!?  The phrase "white trash" came in to my mind.  As well as not stopping at a Stop sign, she was speeding, carrying Marijuana and driving drunk.  The BBC story is here.

There is a lot of suspicion State-side at the moment of how the police treat different races - probably heightened by the idiot Trump allowing racists to appear empowered.  So it is a good job that the officer in question was straight.

The mug-shot should be a clue.

She was booked into the Beaufort County Detention Center and faces driving under the influence, speeding, disregarding a stop sign, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia charges, according to the jail log.

Stupid cow.

Talking of cows...

Motoring Offences

Ok, so what's the worst motoring crime?
  1. Driving while using the phone.
  2. Locking two children in the boot.
  3. Driving at 4TIMES the speed limit.
Two of these are pretty serious.

What? Only two of them?  Surely I can't be serious?

Well I am serious and don't call me Shirley.

Let's take them in order.

1. Driving while using the phone.
We have this story today from BBC News.  UK police caught almost 6,000 drivers using their mobile devices while driving in the four weeks after March 1st.  The significance of that date is that it was then that penalties for being caught were doubled plus any newly-passed drivers caught would have their licences revoked.  It looks like this is still not enough of a deterrent.

2. Locking two children in the boot.

Another BBC story - this time from yesterday where this woman,
Tori Castillo allegedly locked her 5 and 2 year old children into the boot of her car in Utah, USA while she went shopping.  She is facing child abuse charges and the children are now with their father.

Which brings us onto the not-so serious story about the chap convicted of...

3. Driving at 4TIMES the speed limit.
Fox News have this story.  The guilty party was one Walter Arnold and he committed the offence in Kent, UK.

He was driving this very car here:
The constable who arrested him estimated he was doing a speed of approximately 8mph in a 2mph zone.  Actually, the entire country was a 2mph zone back in 1896 when this happened.  The article describes 2mph as "a little quicker than the average speed of an ambling cow."

The constable was on a bike but I reckon if he'd just upped his walking pace a little he would have still caught him anyway.

Tailgating - Good or Bad?

It depends upon if you are British or American.

If you are British, then this is tailgating:although, really you need to replace the car in the mirror with an Audi.

Anyway, it's not a good thing - in fact, it's a downright dangerous thing. If you are American, then tailgating seems to involve a barbecue:
Here's a better picture -it actually involves a pretty girl tailgate:

Here in Britain, we have things called "car boot sales" which do not involve the purchase of cheap car boots (or "trunks" if you are American - trunks to us are what elephants have or what men wear to swim in)

In America, they have tailgate thefts which I would have assumed to be thefts from the cargo bays of Pick-Up Trucks but actually is the theft of the vehicle tailgate itself. Fox News reported on it yesterday together with some statistics on cities, States and makes of vehicle most likely to be targetted and tips on how not to let it happen to you.

Meanwhile, North of the border (in Canada not Scotland) they have a different crime again called "curbsiding" which has nothing to do with Kerb-crawling. The Canadian car-site I sometimes delve into had this story last month. Apparently, this particular crime is trading in used (often repaired after damage) cars while pretending to be a private seller and not disclosing the history of the car. Although, if anyone repaired and then sold on the car they used to illustrate the story, then good luck to them:

Whatever motoring crime you decide to take part in, if caught, you may well end up before a judge.

And that judge may well be an expert on motoring crime.

Like this chap.
